Kolhapur, Jun 7 (UNI) Prajakta Charuchandra Bhide of G R Purohit Kanya Prashala, Sangli, and Pradhumna Purushottam Naslapurkar of New College, Kolhapur, secured 95.67 per cent marks and emerged joint toppers in the HSC examination from the Kolhapur Division.
Kolhapur Divisional Board Chairperson Ujwala Patil, while announcing the results today, said Rupali Janardan Borkar of Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, came second with 95 per cent while Shivaraj Shahaji Dongare of Yashwantrao Chavan Institute of Science, Satara, and Shrikant Madhav Kulkarani of Yashwantrao Chavan College of Science, Karad, jointly shared the third position with 94.50 per cent. Neha Sanjay Ghotne of Vivekanand College, Kolhapur, stood first among backward class students with 94.33 per cent.
A total of 112,665 candidates had registered for the HSC examinations, conducted in February-March this year. Of these, 111,770 students appeared and 98,959 students passed, registering a pass percentage of 88.54.
Kolhapur division comprises five districts of Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
Among the districts, Sindhudurg topped with a pass percentage of 91.14, followed by Ratnagiri -- 90.66 per cent, Satara -- 90.10 per cent, Sangli -- 89.45 per cent and Kolhapur -- 85.48 per cent.
The pass percentage among boys was 85.47 per cent while girls fared much better with a pass percentage of 92.49.
