Mayank and Nurpur bag gold medal in DanceSport Championship

Chandigarh, Jun 7 (UNI) Mayank Kaushal and Nupur Aggarwal kept the spectators spell bound with their flawless movements to claim top aclaim in Grade B category of the inaugural Chandigarh DanceSport Championship organised by the Chandigarh DanceSport Association at the Sector 10 Skating Rink here today.

In Grade B category the competitors had to perform in Cha Cha, Jive and Rambo dances. Equally good display was given by Saurabh Sharma and Divya Mahshwari. However, they had to remain satisfied themselves with the silver medal. Mayank Maura and Harsat Randev got bronze.

In Grade C competitons, each pair had to compete in two dances -- Cha Cha and Jive. Nidhi Satyaand Munish cornerned glory. Bandeep Rakhi and Alisha were awarded silver medal. Michael and Devanshu Mishra danced to bronze medal.

Under-14 category, Mohak Meet and Neeti Sharma enthralled the spectators with their graceful movements. Sanjana and Madhav Ginoria got silver and Kanav Jain and Tanayaa Ginoria bagged bronze medals.

Principal Secretary, Technical Education, Tejinder Kaur, who is also president of the Punjab IAS Officers' Association, was the chief guest and distributed prizes.

After formation of the Chandigarh DanceSports Association, headed by Rakhee Gupta Bhandari, the association began its campaign by conducting a five-day workshop in dancesport at Indira Holiday Home in Sector 24. India's top dancing couple of Shannon Benjamin and Dr Preeti Gupta, conducted workshop from June 2 to 6.

Today, the first state championship, approved by the DanceSport Federation of India was conducted.
