{image-manavjit singh sadhu_07062008.jpg news.oneindia.in}New Delhi, Jun 7: World champion Manavjit Singh Sandhu was pushed out from the medal contention as he finished at a disappointing 17th in the men's trap event of the ISSF World Cup being held in Suhl, Germany.
Manavjit, the Beijings Olympics qualifier for India, started his qualification round on a bright note but failed to carry the momentum as he missed five targets in the next two rounds which ended his hopes for a medal. He finished with scores of 119 (25,21,24,25,24). Meanwhile, Zoravar Sandhu shot a series of 24 to emerge with the best performance among all the Indians in the event. He shot an impressive 120 (24,24,24,24,24).
The other Indians in the fray, Anwer Sultan and Mansher Singh, too, had poor finishes in a strong field of 96 shooters.
Anwer Sultan finished 49th with a score of 115 (23,24,24,20,24) while Mansher Singh shot 113 (21,21,25,22,24) to finish 63rd.
Australi's Michael Diamond won the gold medal with a score of 145 (123+22).
