Patna, Jun 7: Irked at the assault of lensmen by junior doctors of Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), lawyers today openly supported the photo journalists and announced not to take up the cases of the medics facing Non-Bailable Arrest Warrants (NBW).

In an emergent meeting here, the district bar association dubbed the incident as 'inhuman' and 'unfortunate'.

Association Secretary Arvind Kumar told UNI that the lawyers unanimously decided not to file the anticipatory bail application or any other matter of the junior doctors in question.

He said the association members resolved to paralyse the functionings of the court in case any of the lawyers took up the matters of the guilty doctors.

Earlier, the court had issued NBW against seven junior doctors of the PMCH for brutally assaulting the photo journalists in the hospital campus on Thursday last when they had gone there.

Later, following intervention of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, an FIR was lodged at Pirbahore police station. Mr Kumar had directed the police personnel to take action against the guilty doctors and had asked to book them.

Meanwhile, the local police carried out raids at several places in the state capital in search of the doctors.

Earlier, three lens men were attacked by a group of junior doctors while shooting in the emergency ward of the hospital.
