Shimla, Jun 7 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today promised to popularise Kangra Painting Art among the younger generation, besides reviving the Sardar Shobha Singh Awards.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the ''Strokes of Kangra'', an exhibition of Kangra miniature paintings organised by Kangra Arts Promotion Society, Dharamshala, in collaboration with the Department of Language, Art and Culture, at the state museum here, he said all steps would be taken to popularise the art, which is famous across the globe.
Mr Dhumal also emphasised the need for public- private participation in its promotion and said this would go a long way in encouraging the young and budding artists to take it as a profession.
''The Kangra paintings have gained global recognition amongst the art lovers for its unique qualities for depicting various aspects of life and nature, especially that of Radha and Krishna's romantic moments,'' he added.
He also launched the website on Kangra Painting art on the occasion.
