GUJ condemns attack on LokSatta editor's residence
Panaji, Jun 7 (UNI) Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ) today strongly condemned the attack on the Thane residence of Marathi daily Loksatta's editor Kumar Ketkar, on Thursday and said it was an act of vandalism by those who have forgotten the principle of tolerance.
Journalists, including editors have the right to express their views and if one does not subscribe to those views or would like to challenge them, there are ways and means to do so, GUJ President Suhasini Prabhugaonkar said in a release here.
Vandalism only disturbs peace and not the spirit and principles of journalism cherished by the editor, she said.
Ms Prabhugaonkar said Mr Ketkar has many followers not only in India, but throughout the world and the attack on his house surely has shocked not only the journalists community but the society as well.
The Union has also urged the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Vilasrao Deshmukh to take immediate actions against the miscreants involved in the act of vandalism.
