Govt apathy starves Chhattisgarh of power
Korba, Chhattisgarh, June 7 (UNI) The alleged apathy of the Chhattisgarh government will result in the state not receiving its share of power from the National Thermal Power Corporation's under-construction units here and at Raigarh.
Sources said with the setting up the new 500-MW unit here -- possibly by May 2010 -- the plant's capacity would go upto 2,600 MW.
NTPC provides 15 per cent power to states where it sets up plants.
The state should have received 75 MW from the unit being set up here but there was no initiative from the state regime.
''The NTPC is setting up a 4,000-MW plant at Raigarh district's Laragaon but no agreement has taken place on the state's share from that plant,'' said the NTPC's Director (Projects) K B Dubey.
