Gony replaces Sreesanth for ODI series in Bangladesh

By Staff

New Delhi, Jun 7 (UNI) Paceman Manpreet Gony was rewarded for his exceptional performances in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was drafted in to the Indian team for the ODI triangular series in Bangladesh that begins from tomorrow.

Gony will replace the new bowl bowler S Sreesanth after he was ruled out of triangular series due to left hip strain which he picked up during his team's last IPL game at Mohali.

Gony performed exceptionally well for Chennai Super Kings in IPL Twenty20 as he picked up 17 wickets in 16 matches at an average of 26.

The Indian team will leave for Bangladesh tomorrow for the four-match tournament. Pakistan and hosts Bangladesh are the other two teams in the tournament.

The triangular series will also help the teams to prepare for the Asia Cup that begins later this month which will be played in Pakistan.

Gony's performance will therefore be closely looked at by the selectors who might consider him for India's future tournaments.
