Five women commit suicide by jumping in front of a train
Hisar, June 7 (UNI) Five women, apparently of the same family, today ended their lives by jumping in front of Ludhiana-Hissar passenger train near Madanpura village on the outskirts of Uklana town in this district.
According to police, the women, one of them old, one middle-aged, two teenagers and a young girl, suddenly jumped on the tracks and huddled together as the train came hurtling down after leaving the nearby Jakhal Railway station.
Four of the women died on the spot while the old woman was thrown off after hitting the engine.
She was rushed to the nearest hospital but died.
Though a large number of villagers gathered at the spot, the deceased, who were dressed differently from the local attire, could not be identified as they apparently did not belong to the nearby village.
Apparently, the women took the extreme step due to some domestic dispute or crisis.
Government Railway Police from Jakhal rushed to the spot and had started investigations.
