Imphal, Jun 7 (UNI) All India State Government Employees Confederation (Manipur State Unit) Convenor N Arunkumar has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh urging him to ensure regular payment of salaries.

Arunkumar said the employees of the state government had been facing unprecedented hardships due to irregular payment of salary.

The phenomenon of holding salary started from 2005 in the name of service verification and sometimes in the name of post extension.

He said the downward revision of pay of government employees as effected by the Pay Revision of December 28, 2006 should be reviewed and status quo maintained.

The report of the Sixth Central Pay Commission had been submitted to the Central Government and was likely to be implemented by September this year.
