New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) Noted advertising and fashion photographer Jatin Kampani has stressed the need for more platforms to facilitate recognition of budding fashion photographers in the country.
Speaking at the launch of Ibibo FTV Fashion Photographer Talent Hunt here yesterday, Mr Kampani said though fashion photography is fast becoming a preferred medium of expression for many, there is still scarcity of platforms for amateur photographers.
"The need of the hour is to encourage these upcoming talents and I am really honoured to be a part of this talent hunt where young aspirants can showcase their best works, get groomed and recognised," he added.
The first Indian photographer to have his work on the cover of Lurzer's Archive, a magazine dedicated to presenting the best new print campaigns and TV commercials from all over the world, Mr Kampani said, "fashion is very personal to me. It is as if to create history and store in the archives. It is to represent today for tomorrow." The fashion photographer, who has been acclaimed nationally and internationally, said his best accomplishment always remains "taking a great picture," apart from all the awards in the field of photography that he has gathered over the years.
Speaking about his role in the talent hunt, he said, "I will be answering to lot many questions from the contestants. I will also keep a track on the works of the photographers and the five finalists will be trained by me. They will also get a chance to shoot with FTV models in Mumbai." The pictures would also be uploaded on the ibibo website (www.ibibo.com) and the shoot will be aired on FTV, he added.
Mr Shiddhartha Deshaprabhu of Ibibo said the talent hunt will conclude with five photographers working together on a project.
"This new concept will bring the budding photographers closer to the real world of fashion photography under Mr Kampani's guidance. It is a non-metro concept, where the interested ones, even from places like Kochi, Kanpur or Meghalaya can approach him directly. They can also upload their 10 best photographs on the ibibo website, which will be adjudged by Kampani and Ibibo," Mr Deshprabhu added.
