Agartala, Jun 06 (UNI) The Tripura government today announced tax subsidy on petrol and diesel at five per cent and 2.5 per cent respectively, which would come into effect from tonight.
Announcing the decision in the ongoing budget session of Tripura Assembly, state finance minister Badal Choudhury said since the state government had been getting only four per cent sales tax on LPG it was difficult to give any subsidy.
He, however, pointed out that the state government would incur a loss of Rs eight crore annually from its revenue sector, but considering the situation the state was compelled to give tax subsidy.
According to revised rate, petrol would be Rs 47.85 and diesel would be Rs 33.68 per litre in Tripura while a LPG cylinder would be Rs 387.05, Mr Choudhury added.
