Train runs back to pick up passengers
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 6: An express train ran backward for several kilometres this morning to pick up waiting passengers after it skipped an important station.
The Thiruvananthapuram-bound Vanchinad Express, which stops at the Chirayinkeezhu Station, passed it without stopping there. It was stopped a few kilometres ahead of the next station after the engine driver was alerted. The train was then made to run back to Chirayinkeezhu Station to pick up the passengers. When contacted, Chirayinkeezhu Stationmaster told UNI the nearby station was alerted and the train stopped ahead of the next station.
The Stationmaster said the driver could have missed the station as he could be new to the section.
