Special court grants permission to Arun Gawli

Mumbai, Jun 6 (UNI) Gangster-turned-legislator Arun Gawli today signed in the presence of MCOCA judge, the questions to be put up in the Maharashtra Legislature in the forthcoming Monsoon session.

Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Judge V G Joshi granted permission and directed the MLA's secretary Mahendra Bagwe to take his signatures in the court premises.

Moving a remand application, Additional Public Prosecutor Kalpana Chavan told the court that, except accused Sandeep Gangan, they did not want custody of other accused, including Gawli, for murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamshandekar and they could be sent to judicial custody.

Judge Joshi then remanded Gangan to police custody till June 17 and others including Dinesh Narkar, Srikrishna Gurav alias 'Babu', Vijay Kumar Giri, Narendra Giri, Anil Giri, Ashok Jaiswal, Sahebrao Bhintude, Sadashiv Surve, Surendra Panchal and Sandeep Dongan, to judicial custody till the same date.

They were booked under sections 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code (IPC), 3 (1)(ii), 3 (2), 3(4) and 4 of stringent MCOCA and 3 and 25 of Arms Act.

Four accused, who were arrested for their alleged involvement in Jamshandekar's murder earlier, had reportedly told the police that they were given a 'supari' (contract) of Rs 60,000 to kill the Shiv Sena corporator by Gawli's associate and Akhil Bharatiya Sena member Srikrishna Gurav alias 'Babu'.
