Srinagar June 6 (UNI) Six people were killed and as many wounded in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.
They said an oil tanker skidded off the road and dashed with a tree at Lethpora on Srinagar-Jammu national highway resulting in on-the-spot death of one person and injuries to three others.
The sources said one of the injured later died while the condition of two others was stated to be critical.
A gypsy of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) skidded off the road and fell into a nearby field near Neelam post, Chowkibal, in the frontier district of Kupwara.
They said driver naib subedar Jayaseeka was killed and three other personnel injured.
Two passengers were drowned after a vehicle in which they were travelling from Sonmarg to Srinagar fell into river Sindh at Rezan Mode.
The driver was injured and later hospitalised they said.
Body of one drowned passenger was recovered, they said adding search for another was still on.
A 40-year-old woman Pari Jan was killed on the spot in a road accident at Bran Dhoube in Baramulla.
A police spokesperson said a foreigner Mrs Market Chrojkovas, daughter of Chrojka from Ozech republic, was injured in a road accident at town Kargil. She was hospitalised.
He said two houses, two cowsheds and one shop were gutted in a devastating fire at Baba Darya Din, Ganderbal. The cause of the fire was not known he added.
