Kohima, Jun 6: Security has been tightened in Dimapur with reinforcement of police forces, Assam Rifles, CRPF, Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Nagaland Armed Police (NAP), covering the entire area in and around Dimapur town to thwart any inter-factional clash.

Official sources said here today that the district administration had asked the underground cadres to vacate all civilian places following which raids would be conducted jointly by police and other security forces to flush out the ultras. Frisking of the vehicles would be undertaken and Motor Vehicle Check Points (MVCP) had been established.

Patrolling in all vulnerable areas had been intensified after the inter-factional bloodshed in Dimapur on June 4, where altogether 14 persons were killed.

However, unofficial sources claimed that more than 20 persons were killed in the clash.

Meanwhile, security had also been beefed up in and around the state capital.

Police and security forces intensified patrolling all over the town and its suburb areas and MVCPs have been established in strategic points of the town.

Meanwhile, though the district administration had ordered to all underground groups to vacate the populated areas of the town, the camps were yet to be vacated due to which the district administration was keeping strict vigil on the camps and the movement of the cadres.

Kohima Deputy Commissioner Sachopra Vero affirmed that a joint flush-out operation would be carried out if the need for such steps arises.
