No VAT on LPG, slash on VAT on diesel in Haryana
Chandigarh, June 6 (UNI) In a major relief to the farming community, the Haryana government today decided to slash VAT on diesel from the existing 12 per cent to 8.8 per cent.
This decision was taken in a meeting of the state Cabinet which met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
The decision will also benefit truck operators and owners of diesel operated vehicles who had begun to feel the pinch of the Rs 3 per litre hike in the prices of diesel. It would also mean that the state government may not have to hike bus fares.
The Cabinet also decided to do away with the 4 per cent VAT on LPG cooking gas. The decision would give some relief to the housewives as the Rs 50 per cylinder hike was bound to disturb their domestic budget.
