Lucknow, Jun 6: Samajwadi Party supremo and leader of the opposition in the state assembly Mulayam Singh Yadav today went to the official residence of Chief Minister Mayawati to attend a meeting in connection with selection of candidates for the members of state Human Rights Commission.

Probably it was the first one-to-one meeting between Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav and Ms Mayawati after the BSP government came to power one year back. The meeting, which went on for about 35 minutes, was attended by the chief secretary and Director General of Police along with some other members of the assembly and other officials. Mr Yadav, being the leader of the opposition in the state assembly, has a say in the selection of members of the state Human Rights commission. Earlier newspersons went into a tizzy when reports came in that Mr Yadav was present at the residence of Ms Mayawati.

However, officials confirmed that the SP leader only came to attend the meeting of the Human Rights Commission. Political observers feel that this meeting could be a new political emergence in the state.
