Mukul Pathak sent to one-day CBI custody
New Delhi, Jun 6 (UNI) Mukul Pathak, the journalist from Assam accused of bribing CBI officials was today sent to one-day CBI custody by Additional Sessions judge V K Maheshwari here.
The CBI had alleged that sacked Assam Education Minister, Ripun Bora, businessman Ramesh Maheshwari and Mukul Pathak, who was arrested at Guwahati airport on Tuesday, had conspired to bribe Deputy Superintendent of Police A B Gupta, probing a murder case against Mr Bora.
In 2000, tribal leader Daniel Topno of the All-Assam Tea Tribe Students' Association, was killed nearly a kilometre away from his house at Gohpur in Sonitpur district of Assam.
Mr Bora was a suspect in the murder.
