Karnataka beat Maharashtra by solitary goal in Santosh trophy

By Staff

Srinagar, Jun 6 (UNI) A solitary goal by captain Vijay Kumar helped Karnataka register a hard fought victory over Maharashtra in their quarter-final league match of the 62nd National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy at the Bakshi Stadium here.

Playing like well oiled machines, both teams played attacking football right from the word go.

However, they failed to score despite making some good moves.

After a goalless first half, Karnataka made a number of attempts but their forwards failed to find the net. Maharashtra also earned a couple of scoring chances but could not score.

It was captain Vijay kumar who scored the all important goal for Karnataka after he bulged the net from just out sie the box.
