Raj: Gujjars disrupt water supply in Dausa
Jaipur, Jun 6: Agitating Gujjars during their 'rasta roko' movement have disrupted water supply in Dausa town and attacked the police in Kudi village to press for their demand of Scheduled Tribe status for the community.
According to police sources, a mob of Gujjars blocking traffic on the road near Kudi village in Dausa district this afternoon, suddenly turned violent and started throwing stones at the police which tried to disperse them. The police used force but this did not work and subsquently used tear gas to quell the protestors. Earlier, the Gujjar protestors damaged the main water supply line at Mahsar village in Dausa district last night. Some protestors were taken into custody in this connection, the sources said.
The authorities have swung in action to repair the damaged pipe line. Water tankers have been pressed into service to meet the demand of water in the town.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan goverment today again sent formal invitation to invite Gujjar leader Col Kirodi Singh Bainsla to Jaipur to hold talks with the Goverment.
