Dinesh Karthik guided Sahara to victory

Lucknow, June 6 (UNI) Dinesh Karthik guided his team Sahara India to victory over Colombo Colts, Sri Lanka, with a sparkling century in pool 'B' matches of the 56th Sahara City Homes Sheesh Mahal Crickt tournament here at the K D Singh Babu stadium today.

Star studded Sahara India beat Colombo Colts by 74 runs.

In the second match of the same pool, Rizvi Builders beat Indian Oil by a narrow margin of 9 runs at the Chowk stadium.

At the K D Singh Babu stadium, Karthik entertained the spectators with his international level experience by hitting almost every bowler of the Sri Lankan team and remained undefeated at 121 runs, which included 12 fours and three towering sixes.

Sahara India started the innings with team India discard Akash Chopra (59) and M Vijay and both took the score to 42. After the departure of Vijay, Karthik joined Chopra and the runs started coming fluently. Sahara amassed 267 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

Sri Lankan innings started disastrously in front of the medium pacer Ranadeb Bose's accurate line and length, he dispatched both the openers without opening their account, thereafter, Kolkata Night Riders all-rounder Laxmi Ratan Shukla claimed four middle order batsmen.

However, lower order batsman Arosh Janoda gave some resistance with his well hit 43, skipper Warnapura played 39 runs innings. The innings of Sri Lanka folded at 193 loosing the match by 74 runs.

Brief score- Sahara India- 267/7 (Akash Chopra 59, Dinesh Karthik 121*, Angela Mathew 2/37, M Warnapura 2/33). Colombo Colts- 193 (Warnapura 39, Angelo Mathew 35, Arosh 43, L R Shukla 4/40, R Bose 2/07, J Shah 2/09).
