CPI(M) stages novel stir against fuel price hike
Puducherry, Jun 6 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) here today organised a novel agitation in protest against the hike in the price of petroleum products.
The party cadres took out a mock funeral procession of an LPG cylinder, accompanied by music and beating of drums, with people wailing and beating their chests.
The procession commenced from the Periyar statue and reached the office of the District Collector at Saram, where they also staged a demonstration.
The agitators also submitted a memorandum to Collector Thevaneethidas, urging him to make available adequate quantity of petrol and diesel and reduce the price of the fuels.
