Kochi, Jun 6 (UNI) Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has been presented the FACT MKK Nayar Memorial Productivity Award for 2006-07 for achieving highest productivity in the category of large industry.
The award, presented recently by Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem, was received by Cmde K Subramaniam, Director (Operations), on behalf of Cochin Shipyard.
The Yard has been achieving record production during the past few years. It achieved the then all-time high shipbuilding production of 62,517 DWT in 2004-05. This was surpassed in 2005-06 with a production of 110,206 DWT and in 2006-07 with 181,395 DWT.
Consistent with the increase in production, the total turnover of the company has increased from Rs 235 crore in 2002-03 to Rs 720 crore in 2006-07.
A record shipbuilding turnover of Rs 475 crore was achieved in 2006-07. The performance in 2007-08 is estimated to be around Rs 600 crore. The turnover of the ship repair department crossed the Rs 240 crore mark in 2007-08.
The net profit registered a three-fold increase from Rs 18 crore in 2005-06 to Rs 58 crore in 2006-07, a Cochin Shipyard release said here today.
