Chief secretary inspects Mithi river

Mumbai, Jun 6 (UNI) Maharashtra chief secretary Johny Joseph today inspected the work on widening and deepening of Mithi river, which was swollen in July 2005 due to heavy downpour throwing normal life out of gear in the metropolis.

The work on widening and deepening of the Mithi river started in January 2006, as per the recommendation of (CWPRS), without affecting the permanent structures on both sides of the river.

After completion of the Phase-II work on the Mithi river and Vakola nullah, the government has proposed to undertake works on construction of roads and beautification of the banks of Mithi river and Vakola nullah. UNI JM SSS VKG1942
