WSBI to discuss microfinance for inclusive growth
New Delhi, Jun 5 (UNI) 'Overcoming financial exclusion through microfinance' is the theme of the 15th general assembly of World Savings Bank Institute (WSBI) being held here tomorrow.
The objective is find out how microfinance can help build inclusive finance sectors and assess the role of WSBI members, particularly in the Asian region.
Minister of State for Finance Pawan Kumar Bansal will inaugurate the conference being organised by the National Savings Institute in collaboration with World Savings Banks Institute, an official statement said today.
About 100 delegates, including CEOs and managing directors, from across the world are participating in the assembly.
JNU University Vice Chancellor B B Bhattacharya, NABARD General Manager Ramanathan and WSBI Managing Director Chris De Noose will read papers at the conference.
WSBI is the global voice of retail and savings banks and represents 109 banking organisations from 92 countries.
NSI has played a vital role in promoting international cooperation among member countries of WSBI in last one decade.
NSI plans to open one million accounts in the countrside this year, the statement added.
