Twelve Nations to compete in Softball Jr Men's World Championship

Plant city, Florida, Jun 5 (UNI) Defending champion Australia is looking to garner a fourth staright title in the International Softball Federation's VIII Jr Men's World Championship at Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada to be held from June 20-29.

Over 200 young men (age 19-and-under) are getting set to take the field at the Pepsi Softball Centre in the prestigious tournament.

Japan and host Canada will be seeking retribution after the Japanese finished runner-up and the Canadians took third place at the 2001 and 2005 Jr Men's World Championships.

Argentina, Botswana, Czech Republic, Denmark, Mexico, New Zealand, South Africa, US, and Venezuela are the other teams which will vie for the honours.

Botswana will be making its debut appearance at the World Championship against defending champion Australia in the opening game on June 20.

Opening ceremonies will begin on June 20 at 1800 hrs local time, with two games following-Canada will take on Czech Republic and, on the adjacent field, United States will clash with Japan.
