South Zone IG holds detail probe into bullet sale case
Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, June 5 (UNI) Inspector General of Police (IG), South Zone, Sanjeev Kumar here today held a detailed probe into the alleged sale of 13 bullets to a person by a Sub Inspector (SI) attached to the Armed Reserve (AR) police.
Police sources said Mr Sanjeev Kumar questioned the incarcerated SI Pandiyarajan, who was arrested by the city police yesterday in connection with the alleged sale of 13 bullets to one Ravi, hailing from Chennai.
The State Q branch police arrested two persons - Ravi (30) and Jegan - at Tirunelveli new bus stand last evening.
On examination, the police found Jegan was carrying a nine mm pistol and two bullets without any valid license, while Ravi was possessing 13 bullets.
Interrogations revealed that Jegan had purchased the pistol and two bullets from one Selvam of Tuticorin, while Ravi purchased 13 bullets from Mr Pandiyarajan.
The police seized the pistol and ammunitions and arrested all the three.
Sanjeev Kumar asked the SI whether he had supplied bullets to anybody in the past and whether he had nexus with any anti-social elements.
The arrested persons were remanded to 15 days judicial custody this afternoon.
Police are on the look out for Selvam and his two associates for supplying the pistol to Jegan.
