Kharge recognised as Opposition leader in Karnataka assembly
Bangalore, Jun 5 (UNI) Newly appointed Speaker Jagadish Shettar today announced that the main opposition Congress party leader in the lower house Mallikarjuna Kharge has been recognised as the leader of the opposition in the Karantaka assembly.
Making the announce in the Assembly he said that he had received a letter from KPCC informing him about the decision of the Congress Legislature Party, which elected his as its party leader.
Mr Kharge was recognised as the leader of the opposition as he headed the 80-member Congress Legislature party which is the largest opposition in the Karnataka assembly.
The speaker also announced that G N Jivaraj, a BJP member was appointed as the Government Chief Whip in the Assembly.
"Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa had wrritten a letter to me informing about Mr Jivaraj's appointment," he said.
