India, China to cross $60 billion trade target before 2010:Pranab

Guangzhou, Jun 5 (UNI) External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said the two fastest growing economies of the world, India and China, are likely to surpass their bilateral trade target of 60 billion dollars by much before the time of 2010 set by the Prime Ministers of both countries.

Addressing the inaugural function of the new consulate at this city in Guangdong province of China, which is the hub of economic activities of the country, Mr Mukherjee said, ''Our economic development is providing the momentum for growth and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. The trajectory of growth in our mutual trade and investment continues to astonish our citizens.'' He said China is now India's largest trading partner and emphasised that if both the countries have to grow together, their mutual economic and commercial relationship must be the foundation of such growth.
