GGEA President M L Shetkar said Mr Singh had called GGEA delegation late last night and promised them that government is considering to upgrade the pay scale of all government employees from January 2001 and also other demands of paying areas from April 1, 2007 in cash by two to four installments.
Mr Shetkar clarified that the week-long strike has not been withdrawn but it was temporarily suspended for three days as government has requested for more time.
However, he warned that GGEA would intensify its agitation if the Government failed to keep its promise and would be forced to withdraw employees from essential services also.
