Srinagar, Jun 5 (UNI) Concerned over the abduction of 4-year-old Mehran and an abortive bid to kidnap a teenager, the Jammu and Kashmir police have sought the cooperation of the people to foil such attempt in future.
''Just dial 100 and help police to foil kidnapping attempt'', a police spokesman said here today.
However, he appreciated people of Nowpora for providing timely information about the abduction of a 15-year-old Omar Zahoor.
He said a call was received from the people that Zahoor was forced to board a three wheeler at Nowpora near Government High School.
Immediately flying squad posted in the area was alerted by the Police Control Room (PCR) Srinagar.
The flying squad chased the three wheeler, he said adding the kidnappers later threw Zahoor out of the vehicle.
The boy got minor injuries and was hospitalised. He was later handed over to his parents. The three wheeler driver however managed to escape with his vehicle.
He said ''dial 100 Network system ''installed in PCR was working round the clock. Under this system a number of flying squads have been placed at different areas in the city to provide timely help to any needy person.
The spokesman said any person who needs any help or who finds any crime or wrongful activity being committed can dial 100 and immediately.
This was the second time a person had been saved with the help of this system. Few month ago a girl from Hyderpora was saved from the kidnappers with the help of this system.
Meanwhile, there was no report about Mehran, who is missing since May 13 from his Habba Kadal house.
