BJP flays J
Jammu, Jun 5 (UNI) The BJP state unit today condemned the Congress-led Jammu and Kashmir government for not appointing a new Chief Secretary after the resignation of B R Kundal, who quit a week ago to join the Congress.
''When a head of the administration has joined politics after resigning from office, how can he be there even as a care-taker, especially when there is no such legal provision in the Constitution,'' former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Chaman Lal Gupta sought to know.
Mr Kundal had resigned from the post to join the Congress party to be a representative in the state cabinet.
The government had made a mess of the whole democratic process and the ''dynastic'' Congress was resorting to unethical approach to solve its internal problems and those with its coalition partner, the PDP, Prof Gupta alleged.
By making no difference between a political party and the administration, the government is virtually reversing back to pre-1953 status of the state and thus conceding to the demand of National Conference for the restoration of despotism which prevailed then.
