BJP calls 12-hour "Bangla Bandh" tomorrow
Kolkata, Jun 5 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called a 12-hour ''Bangla Bandh'' tomorrow along with the Trinamool Congress to protest the hike of prices of fuel and cooking gas.
In a statement here today, BJP state general secretary Rahul Sinha said his party would also launch a week-long mass movement from tomorrow throughout the state.
Calling upon the people to make the bandh a grand success, Mr Sinha said the Left Front-sponsored today's bandh was nothing but only smacked of its ''political bankruptcy''.
He charged the Front with ''befooling'' the people by its ''double standard'', and said on one hand the Front was extending support to the UPA Government at the Centre, on the other it was calling bandh against its anti-people decisions.
He said the BJP would continue with its agitational programme in protest against the Front's activities.
