Jalgaon, Jun 5 (UNI) At least eight people were killed when struck by lightning in Jalgaon and Buldana districts of Maharashtra as heavy rains lashed parts of the state, including Mumbai today.
In Jalgaon four people were killed after being struck by lightning today evening. The victims were identified as Digabar Baburao Badgujar (45), Mansaram Gyansing Barila, Sonkbai Bhiwa Rakshe (50) and Rajnandini Ashok Sonawane (12).
Meanwhile, one person was killed and another injured at Wadri in Chopda tehsil yesterday.
A report from Nagpur said three people lost their lives in Buldana this evening after being hit by lightning.
All the three were working in their fields at various places in the district. The deceased were identified as Prakasj Kamble, Wasudev Paturde and Ashok Solanki.
Rains, accompanied by thunder and lightning, also lashed Mumbai today as well bringing relief from the heat.
