Mumbai, Jun 4 (UNI) Security was beefed up here today after a low-intensity bomb blast in the basement of an auditorium in Thane district, in which five people were injured.
The Mumbai police Commissioner convened an urgent meeting of senior inspectors of respective city police stations to review the law and order situation.
The officers were asked to take all precautionary measures to prevent such incidents. They were also instructed to hold 'Naka Bandi' in their respective areas tonight.
Soon after the blast, security was tightend at public places and at railway stations.
According to Anil Dehere, police commissioner of Thane, a combing operation to trace the culprits has been ordered.
In the sensitive Mumbra area of Thane district, 'Naka bandi' was organised and some people were called in at the police station for questioning. They were later let off, sources in Mumbra police station told UNI.
