SDMs told to submit flood management plans by June 10
Kapurthala, Jun 4 (UNI) Deputy Commissioner J M Balamurugan today directed the SDMs to inspect the Dhussi Bundh and identify the sensitive places prone to floods in view of the approaching flood season.
Addressing a meeting of SDMs and district officers to take stock of the flood protection measures in the district, the DC instructed the SDMs to make all necessary arrangements in their respective sub-divisions and submit the action plan to the administration by June 10.
The district has been divided into four zones and 15 sectors.
SDMs have been made in charge of each zone and the district officers have been made in-charge of sectors. The DC also discussed the disaster management plan with the officers.
The district has demanded Rs 8 crore for the flood protection measures from the State government for the repair of dam at the sensitive places in the mand (river-side) areas of Sultanpur Lohdi and Dhilwan block.
The DC also instructed the officers for the immediate repair of boats and arrangements of pump sets. The DC has deputed ADC (General) Gurnam Singh to supervise all the arrangements.
