Rs 4,500 crore for Metro rail to fill vialibility gap: Jaipal Reddy
Mumbai, Jun 4 (UNI) The centre will give assistance of Rs 4,500 crore to the Maharashtra government for completion of the Mumbai Metro rail project, Union Minister for Urban Development Jaipal Reddy said here today.
Mr Reddy was speaking at a function, to give away the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru awards for cleanliness to different Municipal Corporations, Councils and Panchayats.
The Minister said the Prime Minister has been taking special interest in projects like BRIMSTOVAD and Metro rail for this city, as it is the financial capital of the country.
He said the Rs 4,500 crore assistance for the Metro rail will be given to the state government as a viability gap.
Giving credit to Maharashtra as one of the developed states in the country, Mr Reddy said that the successful Employment Guarantee Scheme of the state is being emulated all over the country.
