Jaunpur, Jun 4 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Rural Development Minister Dadu Prasad today said Rs 3,500 crore will be invested in this district under National Rural Education Guarantee scheme (NREGA) this fiscal year, which was implemented in the state with effect from April 1.
Talking to mediapersons, Mr Prasad said 'job cards' regarding the same would be distributed in the state by June 15.
If the needful was not done on time, chief development officer and related officials would be held responsible for laxity, he added.
The Minister said bank accounts will be opened in national banks for paying wages of labourers, however, post office accounts will be opened, where banks are located at farther distance.
The process was on to open post office accounts in five districts namely Allahabad, Pratapgarh, Kanpur (dehat), Basti and Barabanki, he said.
Apprising about the government action against the officials for committing irregularities and laxity under the scheme, he said ten block development officers have been suspended so far for the same, whereas inquiry had been initiated against 25 rural development officers.
If any such instance is further noted, stern action would be taken against the culprit, he added.
