PUTIA demands single counselling for admissions
Chandigarh, Jun 4 (UNI) Punjab Unaided Technical Instititutions Association (PUTIA) demanded Punjab Technical Universitry (PTU), Jalandhar to continue with single counselling for admissions to various courses for the session 2008-09.
The members of PUTIA, which organised a special meeting of all members of technical institutions, yesterday at Mohali, opposed the double counselling saying that decision would have adverse effects on parents as well as on institutions.
The second counseling will not only affect the starting of new academic session in state but will also increase the probability of seats remaining vacant in many colleges due to reshuffling during the same.
Students have to pay Rs 2,500 again for Second Counseling which is an additional financial burden for the parents, he said.
