Political parties flay Centres over petroleum hike

Lucknow, UP, Jun 4 (UNI) Opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh today assailed Centre's decision of hiking petroleum prices and staged demonstration and burnt Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in effigy.

CPI (ML) condemned the UPA government's decision and had announced nationwide agitation demanding the Centre to take back its decision.

Expressing concern over the spiralling inflation, CPI (ML) state secretary Sudhakar Yadav said the inflation had already reached eight per cent and increase in petroleum and domestic gas prices would further swell the inflation rate.

He said the government should have rest the burden on the petroleum companies, instead of the general public.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lambasted the Prime Minister saying PM's 'arth shastra' has proved 'anarth shastra' for the general public ( PM's economic policies has proved fatal to the general public) UP BJP spokesperson Hridaya Narayan Dixit said Centre's such decission were creating panic amongst the people, the Rs 50 hike in domestic gas has directly attacked the budget of the people.

BJP workers, including women, staged demonstrations against the same and burnt PM's effigy.

BJP mahila morcha president Padma Pillai said kitchen expenses cannot be amended and by increasing domestic gas prices governemnt had attacked the middle classe badly.

Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said if prices would be increased in such a pace, it would be difficult to control inflation in near future.
