Are you Britain's 'Mr and Mrs Average'?

London, Jun 4: If you and your spouse carry the surname of Smith, drive a Ford Fiesta, live in a three-bedroom house and every summer head to Spain, well, then you're Britain's average couple, that's what a new survey says. According to the study, which was carried out for insurer Norwich Union, the surname Smith is the most common surname in the UK, while the most popular house name is The Cottage and the High Street tops the poll for the most common street name.

The survey was carried out by YouGov who questioned 2,080 people during May. An average Briton prizes his or her photographs most highly, the survey found. "Our study provides a fascinating glimpse into the average British home in 2008," the Mirror quoted Norwich Union's Simon Warsop, as saying.

"It reveals that we are a lot more traditional than we think we are. "We still live pretty close to our family, we still enjoy holidays in Spain; and, yes, those wedding and baby pictures still take pride of place in our homes," he added.
