Met hints at advent of monsoon by June 18
Lucknow, June 4 (UNI) Unseasonal rainfalls wetting the state for the last one month have swelled the possibility of advent of the monsoon by mid-June.
Met department official told UNI here that the monsoon has activated in the Kerala belt and it will probably reach the upper region by June 18.
Lucknow and Faizabad divisions witnessed a heavy downpour late last night, where the sate capital recorded nearly 6cm rainfall.
A remarkable dip was recorded in the day temperature in Moradabad, Meerut, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Agra, Allahabad and Lucknow divisions.
In the last 24 hrs, Hamirpur was the hottest with 44.1 degrees Celsius, which was two notches above normal.
The weatherman forcasts thunder and showers in almost all parts of the state in the next 24 hrs.
