Shillong, June 4 (UNI) The Khasi Students' Union (KSU) has expressed concern over the alleged encroachment on the Meghalaya border by Assam, the most recent case being the one at Langpih in West Khasi Hills, and demanded a permanent solution to the dispute.
In a statement issued here yesterday, the KSU urged both the state governments and all political parties, irrespective of their affiliations and differences, to come forward and jointly find a solution to this sensitive issue.
The apex student's body also urged the Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA) government to persistently exert pressure on the Assam government as well as the Centre so as to chalk out a permanent solution to the border disputes between the two states.
Meanwhile, Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) President G H Kharshanlor accused the Congress of double standards in connection with border dispute between Meghalaya and Assam.
