Kolkata, Jun 4 (UNI) The West Bengal Green Energy Development Corporation Ltd (WBGEDCL) is providing technical assistance to the Siddha group for setting up the first residential complex for the IT industry in Rajarhat.
This was announced here today by WBGEDCL Managing Director SP Gon Chaudhuri who informed that '' Xanadu,'' the IT complex, would adopt energy saving passive and active solar devices.
Mr Gon Chaudhuri said two acres of land had been earmarked for the project which would be completed by 2010.
'' Xanadu is pioneering a transition to sustainable energy use.
It will demonstrate energy efficient building in its truest sense adopting passive and active solar equipment,'' Mr Gon Chaudhuri observed.
He said the high price of conventional electricity and frequent power interruptions would increase the need for eco-friendly housing and the housing sector could see major shift towards energy conserving clean technology.
'' A large number of these houses exist in Germany, Spain, Japan and California and Xanadu could act as a catalyst in a similar shift in India,'' he maintained.
