CBI files progress report in Sister Abhaya case

Kochi, Jun 4: The CBI today filed a progress report on its investigation into the Sister Abhaya murder case before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ernakulam.

A team of CBI officials filed the report in sealed covers, in the chamber of Chief Judicial Magistrate P S Soman.

The CBI is to file a progress report every three months as per the direction of the court. The next report will be filed on September 4.

Meanwhile, Kerala High Court will hear on June 9, a petition filed by Human Rights activist Jomon Puthenpurackal, seeking a direction to the CBI to conduct its investigation on the basis of narco analysis test conducted by it.

The body of 21-year-old Abhaya was found in the well of a convent in Kottayam in March, 1992. As per the forensic report, she was sexually assaulted before her death.

Two CBI also filed before the court reports of narco analysis tests conducted on two priests, two nuns and a former police official.
