Nashik, Jun 4 (UNI) Mahavitaran, or Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), has unearthed 4,928 electricity theft cases in the Nashik zone and has recovered Rs 152.58 lakh as Compounding Charge in May.
The drive was observed in Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar and Ahmednagar districts of the zone simultaneously.
In Nashik city area, 12,589 meters were checked. Out of these, 155 thefts were detected and Rs 516,000 recovered as Compounding Charge in 112 cases. In Nashik rural area, 2,072 meters were checked. Among these 1,559 thefts were unearthed and Rs 47 lakh were received in 984 cases, Zone Chief Engineer M K Deore informed in a release.
In Ahmednagar, 2,126 meters were checked. Out of these, 921 thefts were discovered and Rs 30.15 lakh were received in 526 cases. In Jalgaon, 3,140 meters were checked. Out of these, 1,536 thefts were found and Rs 36.29 lakh were recovered in 772 cases. In Dhule, 2,784 meters were checked. Out of these, 757 thefts were discovered and Rs 33.98 lakh were recovered as Compounding Charges, the release added.
