14 NSCN cadres killed in clash
Kohima, Jun 4 (UNI) At least 14 NSCN activists were killed as the rival factions of the outfit engaged in a fierce gun battle early today at Showaba village under Dimapur district.
Official sources said the gun battle, which started at around 0400 hours this morning, was still continuing.
Officials from district administration and police rushed to the spot and were trying to bring the warring cadres under control, but the exchange of fire was still continuing.
Meanwhile, police could not yet retrieve the bodies of the killed cadres and it was not yet ascertained which faction of the NSCN the ultras belonged to.
Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Moangwati called an emergency meeting of the District Ceasefire monitoring board, attended by officials from the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, police, Indian reserve Battalion, NGOs and senior public leaders, to take stock of the situation.
