India bans smoking at work places
New Delhi/ Srinagar, June 1, 2008: On this World No Tobacco Day, India seemed all set to make it difficult for the smokers in the country. India's health minister said on Saturday that smoking at workplaces would be banned from October 2, 2008.
India is among the few countries to ban tobacco-related advertisements but apart from the ban in media, the ban on smoking in public places or sale to minors is blatantly flouted.
