Patna, Jun 3 (UNI) The Bihar BJP today blamed the UPA government at the Centre for dividing the nation on the basis of religion, fanning the divisive forces active in the state and demanded scrapping of the content being taught in standard eight of NCERT book.
Party state spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha and its state secretary Suraj Nandan Mehta told newspersons here that the content of chapter seven in the social studies book of NCERT with the heading ''Understanding Marginalisation''based on Sachar committee report was ''dangerous'' for the unity and integrity of the country as the religion based survey had been included in the syllabus. It would create an environment in which the people of different communities would lose faith in each other. Such trend would ultimately affect national integration, they added.
Referring to the surevy report of Sachar committee being taught in classroom, they alleged that the Congress party failed to develop different communities and now in order to divert attention of the people from their failures, it was all set to divide the nation and society on the basis of religion.
The leaders urged the UPA government to immediately delete the content from the NCERT book and initiate stern action against the guilty people who included it in the syllabus.
The photocopy of the Sachar committee report which was distributed among the press revealed that 63.6 per cent Muslim live in kuchcha houses while only 55.2 per cent Hindu were living in such type of houses.
